Nestled in the heart of the agriculturally rich Texas Blackland Prairie of Ellis County,  Ensign Road Farm offers an abundant harvest  of garden vegetables, herbs and farm fresh eggs.

Ensign Road Farm, owned and operated by Dennis and Kathy Woods, practices sustainable farming through the integration of on site plant and animal resources.  Our gardens are fed with only natural fertilizer and compost produced on the farm.  The gardens in turn produce lovely vegetables that feed us and our animals.  

We believe strongly in knowing where the food we eat is produced and hope to promote this locavore lifestyle by providing healthy, naturally grown food to the local market.

Our seasonal offering from the fall garden will feature  mustard, collard, and turnip greens.  In addition we have two varieties of  Swiss chard, spinach, radishes, and a selection of salad greens including arugula, mesclun, Romaine and butter crunch lettuce.  Our okra, banana, poblano, jalapeno and bell peppers are still producing and will be available on a limited basis until first frost. 

The herb garden is in full flush with basil, rosemary, thyme, sage and tarragon.  Please call or email for availability of vegetables. Don't forget our farm fresh eggs from the happiest hens in Ellis County!  Our lovely ladies are the stars of the farm. They are allowed to free range all day and eat only natural un medicated feed along with veggies from the garden.  They reward us with beautiful large brown eggs that are  simply the best.  Try some today for $3.00 per dozen. 

We also have a limited supply of fresh duck and guinea eggs. These eggs are exceptionally rich and are excellent for use in baked goods. The duck eggs are large to extra large size while the guinea eggs range from medium to large.  Both duck and guinea eggs are available for $3.00 per half dozen (six eggs).
