Tex-Mex Wings

Makes about 20 wings

Preparation time: 45 minutes

Cooking time: 20-25 minutes

With the growing popularity of wings-only take out restaurants, you can save time (but not money) by buying your wings ready made and tossing out the packaging before the guests arrive. But making them yourself is more fun. This recipe gives them a Southwest twist

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 ¼ cups crushed tortilla chips about a half a bag
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • Salsa and sour cream
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F
  2. Cut the chicken wings into three pieces, reserving the tips for another use or discarding them.
  3. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
  4. Use a rolling pin to crush the chips in their bag or put them in a blender or food processor and mix until the chips are reduced to a fine crumb.
  5. Combine crushed chips and taco seasoning in a large plastic bag and shake well to mix.
  6. Dampen chicken with water and place a couple at a time in bag; shake to coat thoroughly, like doing the Shake ‘N Bake® routine
  7. Place chicken on baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  8. Serve with salsa and sour cream.
